Recently I’ve realized that when talking to people about my choice of vintage/film/low-fi cameras over digital, it can be almost as amusing as telling them I believe in alien life form (which I do). 99.9% of the time the conversation yields a squinted “But why?” facial expression. Don’t get me wrong, digital cameras are great, but I prefer my hobbies to be of the manual and non-automated type.
That being said, it was a little over a year ago when I was browsing the eye deliciousness on Flickr and fell in love with the LC-A Compact Automat. I confess, the sharp focus surrounded by dreamy vignettes sent my heart aflutter and I had to purchase one.
Recently the folks at the Lomographic Society International have announced the 25th Anniversary of the LC-A and are celebrating by hosting all kinds of events and competitions to gear up for the official anniversary which is June 19.
Though it’s been quite some time since my LC-A has been used to its full potential, I may have to take part in the LC-A Anniversary Year Daily Photo Diary. Sure, that brings my “to do” list of photo projects to more than I can recall, but this one actually seems like one I wouldn’t mind sticking to. Too bad there aren’t many LC-A-ers in South Florida, as I’d be totally up for hosting one of their LC-A anniversary parties.
