The start of September always meant that back at home our entire house would be redecorated for the fall season. My mother, who is one of the most incredibly multi-talented crafters I know, would transform the house into something out of a craft magazine. She loved spending the months before fall making table runners, stuffed pumpkins, haunted houses, Halloween and Thanksgiving center pieces, and more. Just the other day I spoke to her and she was already gushing with excitement about being able to decorate the house for fall this coming week.

Ironically, I didn’t set an artist date this week, but instead it just sort of happened. This weekend I found myself wandering different stores in search of new fall decorations for our own place and came back with quite a few gems including a skeleton stylized a la Dia De Los Muertos.

Isn’t he great? I instantly fell in love with him.

As for the Artist Way “Check In” for Week 2:

The morning pages were much more fluid this week, though I still find it hard to write as soon as I get out of bed on weekends, but I don’t seem to be alone in this.  Maybe it’s because I become too preoccupied with other things.

Show and tell time!

The 5 other lives I’d like to lead are:

- Humanitarian

- Photographer for National Geographic

- An astronaut

- Filmmaker

- Art Gallery owner

And for the list of things I enjoy doing, here are only a few from my list:

Trying new things, going to museums, baking (though I don’t do it nearly as much as I’d like to), browsing antique or vintage shops, trying new restaurants, making necklaces/bracelets, art journaling, indulging on Häagen-Dazs Caramel Cone ice cream.

The week may have started out rough, but it definitely ended on a high note. Looking forward to Week 3!

Awesome check-in! I’m glad the Artist Date happened on its own. Wish mine would. This week I resisted and put it off, and finally did a kind of pitiful one :(

Your five lives are awesome. Especially the National Geographic photographer. How original! I’m finding that all our various lists are giving me a vague sense of the artists in our cluster. Your list gives me a vivid picture.

Baking was on my list of pleasures too. And I haven’t done it for a while, either …

Meredith – no Artist Date is ever pitiful! It’s “you” time, so it’s always spent wisely, whether we believe it or not. :)

The National Geographic photographer came about since I would love to travel all over, and I like taking photos. Best of both worlds!

Sad thing about baking is I am not really that good at it lol. So feel free to pass along any recipes ;)

It was very nice to hear you say the week ended on a high note. Can’t ask for better than that!

That’s one great looking fall decoration!

Ooooooh, a photographer for National Geographic sounds very appealing. Great list!

Great list of alternative lives. It’s fun to see what everyone chooses.

Sounds like a great AD. The skeleton is so cute!

I also love baking. And if I might say myself i am pretty good at it. I dont bake all types of cakes and cookies, though. Only those that i find easy, quick to do and easy to customize. I customize all the baking I do, it is a great exercise in creativity.
As with TAW, you are free to come up with your own version.
Wishing you a great 3rd week!
